M.Phil in SOCIAL WORK

The
University of Pune has instituted the M.Phil degree programme in Social
Work from June 1993. This rnstitute is recognised to conduct the course.
The prescribed rules for the degree course are as follows:
The
Institute offers M.Phil Courses in two veins :-
1. M.Phil for teachers
2. M.Phil for field practitioners.
At present M.Phil is not required as a pre condition for the Ph.D
degree. However, certain posts like extension officers, co- ordinators,
department of continuing and adult education etc. are now recognised
as teaching posts where M.Phil is an essential i. qualification !
Eligibility for Registration:
Educational Qualifications:
A person should have successfully completed Master of Social
Work degree course of University of Pune or M.S. W.degree or its equivalent
degree or diploma in Social Work of any recognised University. This
degree or diploma shall be of a duration of not less than two years
after graduation from any recognised University. The Medium of instruction
and expression for the M.Phil degree shall be ENGLISH.
The Admission Procedure:
Applications for admissions are to be made on the prescribed forms
which shall be made available by the office on payment of Rs.150.00
The duly completed admission forms should reach the institute Office
by Monday 30th July 2001 .
Incomplete application forms will not be considered.
Candidates who are working must enclose a No Objection Certification
from their employer.

Structure of M.Phil degree Course:
The structure shall be as under ;
Three written theory papers -40 marks each with Corresponding term
papers of 60 marks in each subject. (40 x 3 =120 marks).
Term paper 9 -20 x 9 =180. The defence of every Term Paper shall be
conducted at a Professional Seminar to be attended by all M.Phil.
candidates and internal and external experts from the concerned fields,
to be appointed at every seminar.
Research Dissertation -150 marks to be submitted before appearing
at the final M.Phil. Theory Examination.
Submission of the dissertation is a pre-condition to appearing
at the final theory examination.
The research dissertation must be based upon a definite research method
preferably not the case study method. The sample design and report
design must be accurately defined. The research dissertation must
be based upon field data of not less than one hundred cases. The Charts
& tables presented must be systematic with properly worked out
class intervals. If the quality of research dissertation is not satisfactory
the candidate may be advised to repeat the entire dissertation by
offering a new topic altogether.
The dissertation shall be evaluated both by the internal dissertation
guide and external examiner independently. The dissertation shall
be defended at the Viva Voce Examination for M.Phil. degree to be
conducted by the University.
The candidate will be graded according to the 6' point grade prescribed
by the U.G.C.
NOTE: 1.Course No.SWO03 is compulsory for candidates working in Educational
Institutions. |
