The
Institute's Research and Development Cell was started in 1995. The
Institute however has been undertaking contract research since 1970.
These research projects are funded by different agencies like industrial
houses, Unicef, Govt. of India, Govt. of Maharashtra and other organizations.Some
of the studies undertaken are listed below :
Preliminary Survey on effect of Transcendental Meditation on

The Institute also undertakes research projects, which help
in formulating or modifying governmental policies in matters of
education and health at the state as well as national levels. In
this regard the Institute had close, prolonged association with
the Central Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Ministry
of Health, the Ministry of Social Welfare and their parallel ministries
in the State Government. The projects undertaken for these Ministries
are listed below:
National Literacy Mission (Ministry of Human Resource Development)
Evaluations of adult literacy programmes :
These are the impact studies related to Total Literacy Campaigns
in various districts, which assess the status of these campaigns
and make recommendations to the National Literacy Mission, these
studies influence future policy regarding the planning and implementation
of the campaigns. Projects have been carried out in the following
districts.
Summative Evaluation in Parbhani, Amaravati, Beed, Osmanabad,
Concurrent Evaluation in Ahmednagar, Bhanadara, Akola
Internal Evaluation of Pune district Literacy Programme.
Nodal Agency for HIV/AIDS Prevention Education
- Evaluation of AIDS Awareness programmes run by the Sewadham
Trust through funding by the AIDS Control Society, which is part
of the Department of Health.
- Post-intervention Evaluation of AIDS Prevention Education Programmes
in Schools (Pune City) Urban Phase II, Seraphim Trust Pune, (1995)
- Post-intervention evaluation of AIDS prevention and sex education
programmes in schools (Rural Pune District), UNICEF, Mumbai (1995-1996)
