Masters In Social Work Programme

The
Institute offers the following specializations:
Family and Child Welfare Labour Welfare, Personnel Management and
Industrial Relations, Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, Urban and
Rural Community Development .
Eligibility:
The minimum eligibility for admission to the MSW degree programme
of the University of Pune is Bachelor's degree in Arts, Science, Commerce,
Law, Home Science, Agriculture or any other faculty of a recognized
University with minimum 40% marks. Higher academic degrees or diplomas
in social sciences and experience of working with people will be an
added qualification.
Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination (Bachelor's
degree) in April/ May of that year and are awaiting results can also
apply.
Candidates deputed by government and private sector should apply through
proper channel. Direct applications shall not be considered.The reservation
of the seats will be as per the Government of Maharashtra Resolution
No. USG- 1493/(2428)/VS-4 dated 23rd June, 1994, and the University
of Pune, Circular No. Reservation cell/ 42/420 dated 29th July 1994.
In accordance with the Government of Maharashtra Regulation No. 2098/4580/Vishi
4 dt. 27th Jan. 2000 the reservation for the Physically Handicapped
is applicable. Candidates from outside Maharashtra State belonging
to reserved categories will be treated as belonging to open category.
MSW is a full time course and candidates are not permitted to seek
employment or register for any other University course at any time
throughout the period of training. Organizations deputing candidates
for the course must relieve the candidate from all his/her official
duties during the period of deputation.
The medium of instruction is English and it is necessary that candidates
seeking admission must have working knowledge of the language and
ability to read English books. However, the University of Pune permits
candidates to answer theory papers in Marathi.
The Institute reserves the right to ask a student to leave the course
if he/she is found unsuitable for undergoing training in social work
at any time during the period of training.
All the foreign students seeking admission for the MSW programme must
seek the admission through the International Students Centre of University
of Pune and are required to appear and pass the Entrance Test conducted
by the University of Pune.
Admission Process:
Karve Institute conducts an entrance test and admission to the course
is determined by the performance at the entrance test.
