has initiated some field action projects with a view to providing
field-training opportunities to the students. Some of these projects
offer professional services to various client groups.
Karvenagar
Community Centre :
The project was initiated both as a placement opportunity for the
students and the need for a pre-primary education center was felt
for better enrollment and retention in the schools. Later on other
programmes emerged out of the students observations and faculty's
initiative. Community outreach programmes seek to organize the community
based activities and programmes based on expressed needs of women,
youth, children and aged through facilitating the development of community
based groups and networking with other agencies.
Family Counselling Centre :
The Family Counselling Centre was established to tackle the problem
of domestic violence against women and children and to provide counselling,
legal aid, referral and rehabilitative services to the victims
of domestic violence.
The counselling centre also offers pre-marital education and organizes
the legal literacy camps for the women in rural areas and urban communities.
The centre has regular liaison with the Cell for Crimes against
women established in the Police Commissioner's Office and the short
stay shelter homes in Pune.
